Port to Park Open Water Swim

    Returns Saturday 7th February, 2026

Join us for one of South Melbourne’s favourite summer traditions, the Port to Park Open Water Swim. First held in 2007, the event has grown into a relaxed, family-friendly morning on the beach that brings our community together and helps raise vital funds for South Melbourne Life Saving Club.

What began with a 1.1km swim and later a 2.2km option has now expanded to include something for everyone. Our newer additions, the 250m kids swim, 500m swim, and Family Friendly 500m are perfect for younger swimmers, first-timers, and families wanting to enjoy the water together.

All distances start and finish right in front of the club, making it easy for supporters to gather, cheer and enjoy the atmosphere. Swimmers follow our bright pink buoys sitting around 50m offshore, while friends and family can stroll along the sand and watch the whole way to the finish line. A floating start and a sand-run finish keep things fun and accessible for all abilities.

Whether you're chasing a personal goal, swimming with friends, or simply enjoying a morning by the bay, your entry helps support our patrolling members, programs, and ongoing lifesaving services.
